Build your first signals

The path most desks settle into: connect a dataset, let it refine into signals, and set the sections your buyers watch. Four steps from a blank desk to a wall your buyers can subscribe to.

  1. Connect your dataOn the Data page, connect a dataset you own with its key. Each delivery is read through a metered door, so no backstage key ever touches it.
  2. Build signalsPress Build signals, or let the desk build them when a new delivery lands. Each row is refined into one signal, filed under the section its words match.
  3. Set your sectionsOpen the Signal Desk settings and name the sections your buyers watch, and how strict the match has to be.
  4. Invite your buyersOpen Readers and add their email. They get a seat on your address with watchlists, alerts and digests.

Keep signals building on their own

Let the desk build signals when a new delivery lands, or press Build signals for a batch now. New signals go on the wall and reach your buyers by the bell and the digest they chose.

Give your buyers the record

Your buyers search the record by meaning, narrow it by section and date, and open any signal to the source it stands on. They can ask the desk a question too; each call bills their own account.

Or search everything below. Type what you want to do; the list filters as you type. Press Ask and the desk answers from these notes and points at the exact control. Sign in and every link opens your own desk.

Getting started
How do I put my data on a desk?
Open the Data page and connect a dataset you own: paste its key, or share it from your DRM3 account's Data tab. Signal Desk reads it through a metered door with that key, so no backstage key ever touches your data. Each delivery is refined into signals and indexed for search.
The Data page →
What is the Data Explorer?
The searchable record your desk stands on. Your buyers query it by meaning and narrow it by jurisdiction, body, section and date, and open any item to the source it stands on.
Your desk →
Can I hand a desk to someone else?
Yes. Open Settings and use the hand-over to transfer the desk to another DRM3 account; they get it under their own plan.

Your data
Who owns the data on a desk?
You do. A desk stands on datasets you own, read with your own scoped key through a metered door. No backstage key ever touches them, and you can take a dataset back off the platform at any time.
The Data page →
Signals
How are signals made from my data?
On the Data page press Build signals, or let the desk build them on a schedule when a new delivery lands. Each row is refined into one signal, filed under the section its words match. A correction supersedes the version it replaces; nothing is overwritten.
The Data page →
How do I set the sections my buyers watch?
Open the Signal Desk settings and name each section and the words that file a signal into it. Set how strict the match has to be with the floor.
Signal Desk settings →
How do I take one signal off the wall?
Open the signal and press Off air, with a reason if you want one. It comes off the wall and stays off until you put it back, whatever the desk's own build does next.
The Signal Desk →
What is a watchlist?
A saved search a buyer keeps. They are told when a new signal matches it, by the bell and by the digest they chose.
Signal Desk settings →
How do buyers get a digest?
A buyer picks a cadence on the desk - instant, daily or weekly - and gets the new signals by email. You can send one now from the Signal Desk settings.
Signal Desk settings →
What is the bell?
When a digest or a watchlist match goes out, it also rings the buyer's bell in their DRM3 account, so they see it the next time they are there.
Signal Desk settings →
Can a buyer ask the desk a question?
Yes. A buyer can ask the desk, get a brief, or summarize a signal against the desk's record; the answer cites the signals it stands on. Each call is billed to the buyer's own DRM3 account.

How do I invite a buyer?
Open Readers and add their email. They get an invite to sign in on your address with a DRM3 account, and the seat is waiting when they do.

How do I put my desk on my own domain?
Open Your own domain and add it. Point your nameservers or one record at us and we attach the certificate; the desk then answers on your own name.
Your own domain →
How do I get my desk found by search engines?
Verify the desk with Google and Bing by a tag it serves, and submit the sitemap it publishes. Its public pages are then announced to the engines that listen, with no DNS change.
Your own domain →
How do I set my desk's look?
Open Brand. Set your mark, the accent, a theme and the footer. One quiet line at the foot is all that stays.

Developers
How do I get an API key?
Open Keys and mint one. A read key reads the desk's data; an admin key manages it. A key names one desk.
Keys →
What does the API serve?
The desk's record as data: signals with the sources they stand on, search, sections, and the connection behind the desk. OpenAPI and an MCP door are included.
The API →
How do I connect an AI agent?
Open the API page for the connect command: point your agent at the desk's /mcp door with an admin key as the bearer. The agent then manages the desk over MCP.

Where do I see what the desk earns and costs?
Open Money. It shows what you collected, the credits the desk's AI has used, and your plan.
